Biography

Corentin Descamps (b. 1997, Namur, Belgium) is an artist living and working in Brussels. He began his studies at ESA Le 75, where he earned his bachelor's degree, and continued with a master's at ENSAV La Cambre, obtaining his diploma in visual arts.
He has developed a practice in which materiality and raw expression are at the heart of his work. His pieces are characterized by the use of intense and symbolic materials, such as bitumen, which he employs to create organic and powerful textures. He explores questions of identity, sexuality, excessive lifestyles, and violence through minimalist compositions. Far from being rationalized, each canvas becomes a field of exploration where gesture and material engage in dialogue, creating dense, sensual, and sometimes unsettling atmospheres. Through his painting, he invites the viewer to a nearly tangible sensory experience, one that is intimate and introspective.
