Text

Through shifting landscapes shaped by memory, reflection, and the experience of nature, Vanpoucke
unfolds in a space between a world that exists somewhere between visible reality and inner
perception. His encounters with the vast and often solitary landscapes of Norway form an important
source of inspiration, alongside his walks at sunrise and sunset. In his paintings and drawings, these
experiences transform into dreamlike visions of flowers, finely rendered flora, and landscapes
suspended between night and day, dream and wakefulness.

Though differing in appearance, his paintings and drawings share a contemporary Romantic
sensibility. They reveal a quiet vulnerability, balancing melancholy, nostalgia, and a timeless sense
of the sublime. Nature is never merely observed, but felt: a place where memory, imagination, and
reality gently overlap. With careful attention to craft, Vanpoucke’s works are both expressive and
restrained, offering a moment of stillness and a gentle counterpoint to an increasingly noisy world.

In this tension between the intimate and the vast, the familiar and the unknown, Vanpoucke
uncovers a rare sense of wonder. His landscapes invite us to slow down and rediscover beauty in
what might otherwise remain unnoticed, making his work both deeply personal and universally
resonant.

Vanpoucke’s works have been exhibited at Art Brussels, Art Rotterdam, Art on Paper, Gerhard
Hofland (Amsterdam), DMW Gallery (Antwerp), D’apostrof (Meigem), among others.
