Text

Born in Belgium in 1987, lives and works in Brussels.
Graduated with a Master's degree from the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts et de Design de Marseille Méditerranée.
Jot Fau’s work deals with questions of identity, doing and becoming. Of expeditions and research.
Questions of survival and rebirth. Of leaving and possibly never arriving.
Jot Fau considers herself as well as the body of her work to be a Harlequin (1) The shapes and media of the work being very variable and going from sculpture to installation, to objects, drawing, video, poetry, photography, sound and textile – her interest in textiles unfolds in multiple shapes. For a number of years she has been imagining and designing unique, sculptural clothing and costumes for theatre, performance and dance.
All of finding its origin in one single mountain of material in which she never stops digging.
(1) The harlequin, dressed in her coat made of bits and pieces, is the very image of the multiple and the multitude. He is part of no community, but very slightly, he is part of all communities
